The SWIR330KMA is a TE-cooled, USB3.0 InGaAs SWIR camera based on Sony’s SenSWIR IMX991 image sensor. This camera can capture images in the visible and invisible (SWIR: Short-Wavelength Infrared) regions of the spectrum. With its 640 x 512 x 5μm pixels users can acquire VGA-resolution VIS & SWIR images using readily-available and cost-effective 1/4” C-mount optics at up to 258f/sec. The camera operates in Global Shutter mode: all pixels begin and end exposure at the same instant – ideal for imaging fast changes or rapid motion in the Field-of-View.
The compact 1/4″ optical format of this VGA-resolution imager is made possible by its 5μm pixel size, as compared to most SWIR imagers that have much larger pixels.
This camera is based on Sony’s proprietary SenSWIR technology, in which photodiodes are formed on an indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) compound semiconductor layer and are connected via Cu-Cu connection with the silicon (Si) layer which forms the readout circuit — a design which enables high-sensitivity over a broad range of wavelengths. This breakthrough yields a SWIR image sensor that is compact yet capable of delivering seamless image capture over a broad range of wavelengths covering from the visible to invisible light spectrum in the short-wavelength infrared range (wavelength range: 400nm to 1700nm).
