This series of 12MPix cameras is based on IMX253 and IMX304 image sensors from Sony’s Pregius Gen2 line of CMOS Sensors. These image sensors combine high sensitivity and a low read noise and are therefore a great choice for imaging under a wide range of conditions, including low-light imaging applications such as fluorescence microscopy. Sony’s Global Shutter technology ensures that all pixels begin and end exposure simultaneously. This is particularly useful in imaging conditions in which the field of view changes rapidly, either due to fast motion or due to rapid changes in light intensity.
With 12MPix and a 1.1″ optical format (17.5mm diagonal), the Sony IMX304 and its higher speed counterpart, the IMX253 are ideal for wide Field-of-View imaging. Due to the small pixel size, they are well matched to the smaller pixel requirement of low-magnification microscope objectives.
The low-read noise of these imagers makes them usable in low-light applications, including wide-FOV fluorescence microscope imaging applications.
All cameras in this series are bundled with Pixelink Capture, a free, real-time, interactive multi-camera software application.
